WHO OWNS SPACE? visualises the rapid privatisation of low-Earth orbit, specifically focusing on the Starlink satellite constellation. Using real-time orbital data, robotic tracking modules calculate and follow the paths of satellites currently passing overhead. UV lasers trace these trajectories onto suspended, phosphorescent cloud structures, creating fleeting paths of light that fade over time. Accompanying the movement is a distorted audio track generated by the motors, reminiscent of a Geiger counter, making the invisible density of orbital infrastructure tangible. The work critiques the “orbital colonialism” of private corporations and the growing threat of space debris.
